Tier order below is the v0.119.0 order used by the main competitor guide, checked 2026-10-27. Starting health and spells are from a v0.106.0 menu check and were still in use at v0.119.0. A v0.120.4 re-check of the tier order itself is pending — treat this as an alpha snapshot, not a settled meta.

Note the S-tier trap: Warlock has the lowest starting health (165) of any class. S means damage ceiling, not beginner-friendliness.
Beginner picks
Paladin first. Highest starting health (245) gives the largest margin for error while you learn movement and the boss clock. Warrior second. Cleave covers a side of the blob and the build is straightforward. Hunter third. Close behind the other two, and the best bridge into S-tier damage once you can hold a line for Auto Shot.
Two axes, not one: sort by damage ceiling if you want the fastest clears, sort by margin for error if you want your first Elwynn win. This page sorts by damage ceiling, with beginner picks called out separately.

What is the best class?
For damage ceiling: Hunter, Warlock, Mage. For a first run: Paladin.
Does tier change with patches?
Yes, and fast in alpha. This order is stamped v0.119.0; re-check after any patch that touches spells or boss health.
Is B tier unplayable?
No. B means harder to pilot, not weak. A good Priest or Rogue run still clears Elwynn — it just punishes bad positioning sooner.
